ONI Drive
Last week I talked to students about the ONI Drive. I explained that the winter is coming and we needed to help people stay warm during season. I told them that they could bring new or used blankets and sweaters that we could donate to those in greatest need.
They asked if the people would come to get the clothes at ASFG, so I explained that we would collect the clothes and then elementary students and teachers would take the items to ONI, a place that helps people who need food and warm clothes.
After this explanation, students watched a video that showed last year’s drive and visit to ONI.

Students brought blankets and clothes, and wrote a note with a kind message to the person who will receive their donation.
We talked about how important it is to help each other. After this conversation they sat for one minute in silence with their eyes closed and I told them to pay attention to how it feels when you help someone. When the exercise was over all of their comments were of a positive feeling, like: happy, good, and peaceful. Then, they wrote a reflection in their journal.
"It's not how much we give but how much LOVE we put into giving."
